What is Guniguni?

Guniguni is the Tagalog word for imagination.

Your imagination is like the secret sauce that adds flavor to your photos.  It's the ability to envision scenes, compositions, and emotions before they're captured through the lens - seeing beyond what's in front of them, crafting unique perspectives and storytelling elements in their photos.

Why Guniguni?

I chose Guniguni as the name of my bodies of work to express my imagination captured through the lens of my camera.

Who are you?

My name is Jonathan. I am born and raised here in the Bay Area. I have been in to photography since I was in High School, using a Sony digital point and shoot camera, which I still have and shoot with occasionally. I took a photography class during my Sophomore year of college and was hooked. My dad gifted me my first DSLR, a Nikon D90, and worked that thing to the ground. I completely lost interest with photography for many years, give or take about 10 years. In 2022, I had a sudden urge of wanting to be creative and make some art. So I picked up my trusty Nikon D90 to try and shoot again. BUT, it was no longer trusty and busted. So, I went and bought myself a new camera, hoping that it would jump start my photography passion. Well, here we are now two years into it, and I am loving every second of it.
