Archive Dump Vol. 2

Today is another lazy post, simply because I have not shot anything new in a while. It really kills me that I haven’t gone out to shoot or get my creative juices flowing. I am really hoping to get out there and shoot again soon. I really don’t want my interest to die. Just really been busy handling and taking care of things that I had to put shooting aside. But, we will get back to it sooner than never I hope! So, I’m just going to do another installment of my top picks from my archive of photos in my Hard Drive.

Sedona, AZ. Fujifilm XT-30II, XF 35mm F/2.

This photo was shot when my girlfriend and I went on a trip to Arizona. I remember right before we left our hotel, I was watching a YouTube video on how to incorporate using objects as a foreground element to create some depth and dimension to a photo composition. The way I used the ledge of the balcony and the handrail help guide your eye to the main subject, which is my girlfriend in this photo. The hand rail and the ledge of the balcony serve as a guiding lines that are parallel to the subject, making it somewhat of a guide for your eyes to naturally scan the entire photo and details. I also really like the contrast of colors and shadows that create the mood. As simple and straight forward as this photo is, it is one of my all time favorites. I would have this printed and framed, also kudos to my girlfriend for looking like a total babesilog.

Alameda County Fair, Pleasanton, CA. Fujifilm XT-30II, XF 35mm, F/2.

This photo is a favorite of mine for so many reasons. I kid you not with how many attempts it took me to get this down as perfect as this. The color gradient of the sunset in the sky is top notch. From the glowing of all the neon lights and the perfect frozen in time moment and the facial expressions of the people are just perfect. I really wanted to capture this lowlight moment without having light trails from the movement. So, it took me a lot of fidgeting with the dials to figure out the perfect shutter speed and aperture to get enough light in but also being fast enough to capture without the light trails.

Dublin, CA. Fujifilm XT-30II, XF 35mm, F/2.

The pure candidness of this photo is great. It looks like I told the subject to look at me when I took this shot, but this was just pure luck. I wonder how awkward and creepy it must’ve felt being that guy. I will admit I did go a little overboard using my starburst filter one the hanging lights above the bar, but I kinda like it. The whole vibe of this photo gives off a “Meh, serve me another beer and keep them coming”. The look on the guy’s face and the word BEER in the background through the bokeh just give all the details and attitude in this simple candid shot.

Oakland, CA. Fujifilm XT-30II, XF 35mm, F/2.

You’re probably looking at this photo and thinking WTF is this?! It’s honestly not deeper than what it is. It is literally just a staircase. I just really liked how the shadows, lines, and textures all looked here. The color version of this photo isn’t as cool. I normally don’t do a lot of B&W, but I visualized that this would look really moody and abstract. The grittiness of this photo gives of classic House of Balloons vibes by The Weeknd.

Alright, well this concludes another installment of Archive Dumping. Hope you guys enjoy these random photos. I promise to get out there and shoot to get some fresh new content for you guys real soon! ‘Til the next one.
