Charles M. Schulz Museum.
If you didn’t know, I would consider myself a relatively big fan of Snoopy. A couple weeks back, my girlfriend and I went to the Charles M. Schulz Museum in Santa Rosa. For those that are not familiar with who Charles M. Schulz is, he is the creator of Snoopy and the Peanuts. You may be wondering why Santa Rosa for the location of this Museum. Long story short, Schulz moved to Santa Rosa in 1969 and lived there til his death. During that time, he was still publishing the Peanuts comics. Thus, Santa Rosa being the home of Snoopy and the Charles M. Schulz Museum.
During the weekend that we went, the museum was celebrating the 50th anniversary of The Beagle Scouts. So, there was an entire exhibit of the museum dedicated to Snoopy and The Beagle scouts. The museum also had a lot of original sketches of Charlie Brown; formerly known as Monte, and Snoopy. There was tons of original vintage Snoopy merchandise through the years.
Other things the museum consisted of was Artists’ renditions of Snoopy, Charlie Brown, and the entire Peanuts crew. There was also a bunch activities to do in the museum, such as a drawing room where you can trace and draw some Peanuts comics. I thought it was really cool how they built the museum at the same exact location where the comics were being drawn and published. They were able to preserve Schulz’s room where he would do the original drawings of the comics. The cafe and ice rink next door to the museum were the old hang out spots where Schulz would grab a meal and take a break from drawing comics. The gift shop was packed with Snoopy merch. You already know I had to grab something before we left. Overall, I think its a pretty cool experience. I definitely want to go back when they have a Joe Cool exhibit.
Here are some of the other pictures I took of the museum. Til the next one, enjoy.
