Feeling Thrifty.

This past weekend, my girlfriend and I wanted to keep it real low key and be lazy. We wanted to go to the library and work on our resumes and business plans, but we did the complete opposite. I was in the mood to go thrifting, but didn’t want to go too far out and keep it local. Also, I thought we would strike some gold at the less frequented thrift stores in South City, rather than going to the really curated thrift stores. With vintage clothing being the current craze, finding unique quality pieces at curated vintage stores is difficult, because they will snatch up all the good pieces to sell on their own or the prices will be hiked up like crazy. A prime example of this is the vintage Levi’s craze. I have found vintage Levi’s at special curated vintage stores anywhere from $68 - $120+ depending on the year and where they were made. A lot of these curated vintage stores teach their staff to spot good true vintage Levi’s. I been lucky enough to find some solid vintage Levi’s all from the ‘90’s and Made in USA for around $24 dollars each at the less visited thrift stores. Vintage Levi’s hunting has been a recent obsession of mine for a couple of months now. Okay, back to the weekend recap; please forgive me for my quick tangent. We sure did score on some gems at the local thrift stores in South City and Pacifica. I scored four t-shirts for like $3 each, a pair of lightly worn slip on Vans for $14, and a ‘90’s pair of Vintage Levi’s 501’s for $24. My girlfriend scored a bunch of good pieces for really good prices also. But, the best piece she came up on was this dope Tuxedo T-Shirt I got her for $3. Next time you see her, tell her that its hella cool and she needs to wear it.

The following morning, we woke up at 7am to go to Sunday Mass with my mom at 9. Justine and I made it a goal to start going back to Church on Sundays. So far, so good with two weekends in a row now. After attending Mass, Justine and I decided to go check out the Sucka Flea market in the Mission. For those of you that are not familiar, Sucka Flea is a flea market and swap meet event that is held at CityStationSF on 18th and Valencia every second Sunday of the month. Its a really dope event that I think is worth checking out. The cool thing is, we actually first stumbled on this event a while back when we first started dating and hung out in the Mission pretty often. I guess we ran into it before it became a big and regularly scheduled event. Unfortunately, we both didn’t find anything to buy. I’m assuming because nothing could beat the prices of the stuff we thrifted the day before.

After perusing all the racks and vendor tents at the Sucka Flea, we decided to take a walk around good ol’ Valencia Street. We grabbed a quick small lunch and grabbed some refreshments at Dandelion. We stopped by the HUF store, because why not. I found the pink Air Max 1’s in my size, so it was meant to be for me to pick up. So, I completed the HUF Air Max 1 set; saved me from paying resell and shipping on eBay. We then closed out our Mission day date by eating dinner at my current favorite Ramen spot, Ramenwell. Unfortunately, we didn’t get to really do what we had originally planned for the weekend, but we still got to have hella fun and spend time with each other, before she sets off to Las Vegas for a bachelorette party this coming weekend.

‘Til next time, enjoy the pictures I took during our day in the Mission.
